really? yeah thats weird r u sure it was completely flat? i had to calibrate the g sense again and reset the time.
By the way does any1's screen go bright white when they put it on hold? happens to mine sometimes....

yup i let it playback music and also put it on endless slideshow to drain the battery faster so when i touched it again it was dead-100%.no response didnt open and when i put it on the cradle to recharge it showed the exact time and didnt wnat any settings again!

that white screen was mentioned once before-dont remember if anyone found a solution...
why dont you try putting hold off and then back on?
does it happen all the time or rarely?

mine doesnt do all those funny things, dont know why though.
once i turned it off and then put hold on;then i found it on in my pocket and it crashed on playing the last song i had,and responded to nothing-not even power off.
so i got a clip and reseted it!
that was the only problem it had since i got it.

other than that i noticed that after some time the screen that appears when you transfer new music,"please wait uploading music info", is on for quite a lot of time.at first it was for a few seconds and now it reaches even minutes!

does it happen to you too?

Conor, that bright white screen is possibly a bug in the firmware, and Sony has to do something for it in future firmware upgrades (Maybe in 10 years or something ! ) My VP has done that 2-3 times .
MadarbWot, I have the same problem! The waiting time increases as VP's HDD free space decreases! There has to be a connection between them!

MadarbWOT, I think I can answer 2 of your points! First up, the battery wouldn't be completely dead. As a battery depletes the voltage from it reduces (this is the basis of the battery monitor). However, the reduction in voltage is non-linear - a 12V lead acid (gel cell) battery is charged at about 14.4V and when fully charged may show a voltage of around 13.8V but will quickly reduce to closer to 12V, where it will stay for quite a long time before reducing further, to maybe 11.2V where it becomes essentially unusable. Diferent internal chemistries of battery dictate how the battery voltage behaves. With the Vp (and most other electrnic devices with a battery meter) they just refuse to turn on once the voltage reaches a certain level, so your battery would have had enough charge remaining to keep the settings/clock going. If you'd left it for a while (maybe a day or two) you would have had to reset the settings, as the battery naturally discharges and so you would eventually not have enough voltage to retain these settings. Sorry if that seems long winded but I did an AS technology project on a battery meter! Secondly, I think the "updating music info" will inevitably get longer as you add more tracks, as I think it verifies each track and adds new tracks to it's database. Obviously as you add more tracks it has to do more work!

Yes my man that works, i mean it seldom happens just a little odd and if i miss it the battery will run down in no time! Actually another thing i now remember is that sometimes when i take it off hold it doesnt light up again. Its like the clock that appears when you put it on its cradle. You can see it but it doesnt become very clear until you touch the G-Sense. (i hope i described that ok)
About the long waiting time when you connect it to the pc - i experience that too and i agree with bentate - the more tracks that build up on it, the longer it takes to update.

bentate, thats a very well stated answer...
thanks for all the info.i suppose youre right about the possibility of leaving it for 1-2 days, cause i run the battery down and then fully charge it again immidiately.
probably why it doesnt have to ask for all the settings again.

conor, the thing about the faded screen is normal, mine works only that way.i have come to the conclusion that its because of the backlight timing, for saving energy...
if you touch the gsense it lights up again so it isnt that much of a problem after all...

oh and about the loading screen, i thought that this might be the case with verifying each song etc.
its just very annoying cause sometimes i get ONE song transfered with like a letter wrong in its tag and then when i fix it i have to wait half an hour more!!!:smileycry:

no worries
yeah, i find the song info thing annoying as well, especially as i quite often use my VP as an external hard drive, and it goes throught the same routine then as well. i also find it annoying if i accidentally switch it foff that it takes a few seconds before i can switch it on again, but ah well.

its not that much of a big deal but it becomes more and more annoying if all you change is a letter in one tag!
but then again i guess everyone goes through that so i ll have to get over it!
