Format Computer

Is there anybody that has tried this:

You need to format your computer. You copy the Sony folder (with all the sonic stage installation) and the library in the Vaio pocket or another external device.

Format computer. Reinstall Windows. Install Sonic Stage. Overwrite this isntallation with the one you kept.

Could it work?

Maybe saving some windows registry settings?

sorry rbn but i dont think that would do any good it would just get you into more trouble...

i once heard about a small freeware program called registry cleaner which cleans any registry trails you want...

whats the big problem with the ss?doesnt it recognize your vp?

I had my VP with more than 4.000 songs when I had the great ide to update to SS 3.0. It asked the VP to be initialized.
After fighting with it during days, I went back to SS 2.3, 2.1, etc... no way.
I had to initialize (format VP, cos I tried all the other initializations and none of them worked) and I lost everything. Also, the library backup from SS 2.3 to 3.0 didn't seem to work properly.

Now, the issue is that I will change my computer. New computer... new windows... new SS installation.
So now what?
Will I have to format again the VP? I hope not!! Again, almost 20gb are used... and I have not all the library on the computer (a 20gb library is too much for my current hard disk).

So, I'm trying to figure out how to connect the VP to a brand new computer and have access to the VP content.

i suppose you will face some problems with this but it will all turn out ok.
to solve the problem with the overrun hard disk you can copy extra files to the vp hard disk:smileywink:

as for the new pc\ss instalation,i have some experience on that...

i went to my friends house he has a vp too,and i connected mine,no problems faced, recognized it 100% and i got some hundreds of songs of his pc.no worries...

i know youre frustrated with it but it will be ok!
heads up

apart from answering to peoples questions,i see the forum as a place through which you can communiate with other people even digitally.

so i guess im happy with the idea that one of my posts could alter the mood of someone else[specially to something better than before].

glad to be here rbn!:smileywink:

MadarbWoT ,

I installed SS3.0 in my work computer. When I connect the VP, it says that music from that computer can't be transfered because the VP music is from another computer.

How can authorize (if it is possible) this computer to transfer music?

Just as you did, connecting VP to your own computer and to your friends'?

Rbn.-

Finally I found out.
I could register the VP in internet so I can authorize more than one computer to access it.

by the time i did that the 3.0 wasnt out yet,so there was no conflict.
not quite sure how you can do that...i suppose by uninstalling 3.0 nothing will change much!
im telling you sstage is a mess you cant get anything right with it!

f**k and f**k sony for giving us that as the only option we have!
thats why people requested real player and musicmatch support!

if we are lucky enough we will live to see those prgs supporting vp.

as for your problem,i dont think there is much i can offer.
maybe if i try going to my friends house again[hes got 3.0 now],but it will be long before i can do that.will try though, just to see the prg reaction!will let you know.

ok, now I have a question that may sound silly. Where can I download SS3.0? I found the firmware update through club-vaio and updated the VP firmware & SS from v2.1 to v2.3. I have tried to find SS3.0 but with no success . What are the improvements?

Thanks in advance
