Solved! Go to Solution.
A new hard drive is cheap enough compared to a screen, but if you see nothing at all when you switch on (no Vaio logo) then the problem is more than a hard drive issue.

Hi alexxClarkk,
Presumably whoever replaced the screen returned the machine to you in working order so has this problem occurred since?
Assuming, on startup, you get as far as the Vaio logo tap F2 to enter the BIOS and let us know whether the hard disk is recognise.

the guy who fixed it tested the old screen and saw it wasnt working so got a new one, when the new screen was replaced turned it on to expect it all working but still the screen came on but was just black. so the screens now working just nothing past the black the guy who did the screen suggested that it was the hard drive thats not working. but i have no idea and i have since had the new screen removed and planning on selling it as he said its not worth buying a new hard drive so looks like ill be getting a new laptop, thanks anyway.
