i think my hard drive might be failing but im not sure. it seems to be chugging along very slowly. everything takes forever to do.
are there any programs i can run to check my hard drive? ive run scandisk but it didnt pick anything up?
could it be windows?
its just typical as my warranty ran out a couple of months ago - just to check is the hard drive guaranteed for one year?
can i take it anywhere to be checked if so how much will it cost?

i tried to format the hard drive last night to see if it was the installation and it came up with drive access error so i presume the drive is dead 😞
just have to wait and see what vaio link say. anyone know where i can get a hard drive as sony stule dont seem to have them?
I think James must have been extremely lucky with his service. I was 2 days out of warranty and had no grace period. If you report the problem before the warranty is up though, I don't think there is a time limit at all, or at least not a very short one. The law covers all repairs for a year after they are done as far as I know, regardless or warranty.

Thats what I really hate about Sony, the inconsistancies and the favortism to certain people, makes me mad. It's one rule for everyone god skae!

I'd call it fair not socialist :smileygrin: but at least James was very happy with the service even if almost nobody else is lol. One happy customer is better than none I suppose.
Yeah I am happy James is getting the service (well he's sent me an email it's still not back).
well they got back to me today which was pretty good and ive spoken to them anbout the problem on the phone.
they gave me a quote of £215.00 i was glad i was sat down at the time so i told them to forget it and ive bought a hard drive today myself for £60
