Hardware Malfunction -NMI:Parity Check/Memory Parity Error

:cry: Hi All,

I am getting the below mentioned error intermittently when ever I am trying to access some video or skype from my vaio Model - VGN - N21S. Blue screen with some peculiar sound comes with the error -

Hardware Malfunction NMI:Parity Check/Memory Parity Error Call your hardware vendor for support The system has halted.

Please suggest
I used to switch off and on in safe mode again restart.

Hi nalinakumar and welcome to Club Vaio.

Unfortunately this can be caused by many things. Have a look at the possible causes in this Microsoft Knowledgebase article. Try the Windows Memory Diagnostic available for download from that page.

If the memory is OK, it is likely to be a driver problem. Have you installed anything new recently? See if there is a Video driver update for the Intel GMA 950 Graphics.

If all else fails and the blue screens persist, you will need to carry out a full system recovery back to factory settings to see if this cures it before contacting Sony Support.
