Hi
I'm having a problem playing MP3 CDs using windows media player on my FS115S. The speed of the tracks vary and the sound is very bitty. I am also having the same prob with DVDs when playing using the supplied player on the DVD.
I have transferred the tracks to disk and played them using the vaio player and they work O.K (not tried DVD this way yet)
Check for any updates at
Will do tonight.
Thanks
Hi Steve
Have you tried using iTunes to play the MP3 CDs
Also is this happening on battery or AC Power?
Hi
No Not tried Itunes yet , I'm trying the software option first but will try later. The problem occured while the laptop was atached to the mains but charging.
Thanx
What about when you copy the mp3 file to the hard disk? Does it happen then?
Hi
Tried updating all the software. Still didn't work. BUT it did identify something else that could have been significant. It had been happening before and throughout the updates. The little tune that's played on startup was distorted. As the mp3s had played when they were on the hard disk it couldn't have been the sound card.
After banging my head against the wall for a few minutes I came to the drastic decision of doing a system restore. (Yes, I had done the disks). The laptop is new and I hadn't done anything on it. Also, if the standard software supplied with the O/S will not work there's something drastically wrong with what i've been sold.
I set it going and waited for it to complete. It restarted OK and the startup sound was as any other Windows startup sound was OK and windows media played mp3s from CD. Yippee!!!
Conclusion:- Either duff installation (I doubt it) or somebody has been fiddling before I got it (one wonders).
Anyway it now works, thanks to Twisted-Rizla and Kee-Lo for your help and suggestions.
It's always best to do a full recovery before using the notebook for the first time.
