windows not fuctioning properly
Get Linux!
Get Linux!
Save all of the driver updates from Sony Link first and put them in a folder on D Drive. And your explorer favorites and settings etc
Recover C Drive with the Recovery Disk
Then get the Windows updates. Get all of the Windows updates by repeated visits to the update website to get SP2 etc etc through the control panel link.
Defragment over and over until it defrags in about 40 seconds. Then install the sony driver updates from your D Drive. Two of the Vaio updates showing a Vaio green padlock will not work with SP2 installed because they are in conflict but I think SP2 patches the security they address anyway. Install more software and defragment again. Go to Java to get the latest Java driver last of all.
I have followed this procedure and my notebook is running like lightning.
PS Use DiskeeperLite it is a great defragger program. Thanks Kee-Lo. PS this will take a long time but it is worth it........................
when does it ever........
when start up it takes arealy long time to load windows....longer than usuall.my audio makes funny noises doing everything, playing media player, with pauses too, even when conecting to the net, during start up..........its abit hard for me to do what you guys told me cause i dont now shit about technical stuff! whats linux?
Make sure that your virus scanner is up to date and run a complete scan. Also download, install, and run spybot search & destroy and Adaware from http://www.safer-networking.org/en/download/ and http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware/
Download & install all of the updates for your computer from http://www.vaio-link.com then run Windows Update from the tools menu of Internet Explorer.
It may also be wise if you read the pages at http://www.getnetwise.org for general information on internet security etc.
There is general information on using Win XP home at http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/default.mspx
If all the above fails then you may need to reinstall the software and operating system for your computer using the recovery disks or recovery partition. Your manual will explain how to do this and it sould be available at http://www.vaio-link.com
I don't think you want to jump to using Linux quite yet . . . . . .
