just purchased a VGN-AR61ZU, i am trying to run a programme which has known stability issues with the driver issue the machine ships with, does anyone know where i can get a recent nvidia driver i've tried omegadrivers and he doesn't have laptop support for vista yet, any suggestions greatly appreciated.
Hi larry26 and welcome to Club Vaio.
At your own risk, go here: -
http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/drivers/vista
I'm not sure what you have installed already.
Version 167.43 supports all Sony Laptops with the original .INF file. If you choose a more recent driver, you will have to download the modified .INF and replace this in the driver download.
Modded .INF files seem to be available for use on mobile GPUs up to Version 170. You will have to look around the site if you want 170+ versions.

thanks for the input i shall give that site a whirl when i get some time. cheers for the swift reply mate
Some drivers@Laptopvideo2go such as 174.74 (very good overall) or 175.80 (even better but got issues with dx10 games) got original .infs zipped in the driver dir.
U only need to replace the default .inf by the sz.inf for vaio products.
That way, u well keep vaio settings for screen brightness management, powermizer etc.
That's also usefull if u got a Blue-Ray player and want to ensure that hdcp is still working.
