Hello,
my vaio is 3-4 years old and since some weeks it need some tries until windows wants to start after for e.g. 8h of not using the vaio.
on the first try this message comes:
Phoenix FirstBios
... RAM passed
System Bios shadowed
Video Bios shadowed
Fixed Disk 0: HITACHI_DK 23EA-40
.
.
...
Mouse inital..
S/N: ....
ERROR
0200: Failure Fixed Disk 0
Press F1 to resume, F2 to setup
if I then try it 3-5 times of turning it off and on again then windows starts.
a friend told me that a possible solutoion would be to change the CMOS Battery, because maybe its low.
now my question: which cmos battery i have exatly to buy? what does it cost? how do i change it (where is this battery in my vaio?)
thx
eli
I would think the clue is "Fixed Disk Has Failed".
You can obviously get it going if you keep trying at the moment.
Back up important data and be prepared to replace the Hard Disk not the CMOS battery.
but at least i should try to change the battery or?
so some answers would be nice
No, you need to change the hard disk. It looks it it's got some sort of surface damage
The CMOS Battery only needs changing when the Time and Date no longer keep there settings and you keep having to restet it.
in another board they told me to change the battery...
how can the hard disk be damaged if everything works fine when it starts?
and it would be very nice if someone tells me how to change the battery
