hi,
i just have a PCG-K415S notebook whit a P4 532 533Mhz frontside bus processor, and when i read the cpu specification paper that came whith the vaio :
support Enhanced intel SpeedStep Technology and Hyper-Threading
Now the problem is that when i run PCMARK ( pc performance Analysis) it sais that Hyper-Threading is Available but Disabled !
Is there a way to check that hyper-threaing is enabled in win XP home with sp2 ?
Thnx and regards
Does the "intel inside" sticker on the laptop have a small HT on the right hand side? See
here.
Some processors which are HT-enabled dont have the benefits of HT technology because you also need a compatible motherboard/chipset. This may only need a BIOS upgrade.
When HT is enabled the device manager should show 2 processors.
Interestingly, Sony said in my info sheet with the K115Z that it has enhanced speedstep -well it doesnt and never will have. It only has Speedstep, so I think they are confused...
The difference is with enhanced speedstep the processor voltage and frequency change across a wide range, while speedstep simply changes the frequency from 3.06Ghz to 1.6GHz only.
Hi,
the sticker have no HT marks so no ,hyper-threading and yes the crew who made the info sheet problely where drunk
cu and thx
It looks like the PC doesn't have HT.
PCMark usually is very accurate.
I would have a word with Sony, as it's been sold to you under the wrong pretence.
