Installed Vista - everything great except VGA (external monitor) out...

I have a Vaio SZ1HP/B

I thought I had everything working perfectly, but I do have 1 problem:

It invloves the use of a secondary monitor via the VGA OUT.

When I connect my VGA cable in Vista, Vista promptly detects the connection and asks me what I would like displayed on my secondary display.

However, after a few seconds, my Vaio screen flashes on and off and so does my seconday monitor screen. This repeats continuously untilI unplug VGA cable.

If I got to VISTA mobility centre, I can see that the secondary monitor is switching between 'connected' and 'not connected' - on/off etc.

I have dual boot on my laptop and the problem does not occur in XP - I can enable my secondary display via the NVIDA Control Center - it works perfect.

The problem in Vista occurs in both Windows diplay options and when I use the Nvidia Control Center.

Hi Istanbul_Kop and welcome to Club Vaio.

No-one seems to have a clue about your problem - Vista is a whole new world!!

A few thoughts:

1. Your external monitor only works when the nVidia card is in use - it does not work with the Intel Graphics Accelerator. Have you got the switch set to "Speed" (not stamina) and is it selecting the nVidia card in Vista?

2. Are your Function Keys all working? i.e. does Fn + F5/F6 change the screen brightness. If these are not working you may not be able to toggle to your external display which is normally turned on by pressing Fn + F7.

I'm afraid these are the only two things I can think of - I wonder if Vista is having problems with the switching between display adapters.

Please do not do this, we're trying to help as much as possible but we're in the dark with Vista at the moment.
