Internet Explorer freezes when clicking on a link...

Hi Everyone,

I didn't know where to put this Thread, so I thought I'd give it a try here.

The problem I am having is with Internet Explorer freezing when I try to access a link to either a website, or to a wallpaper on the Sony website.

Has anyone else had this problem, if so how is it fixed? or shall I just use my System Recovery discs and just re-insall everything?

Cheers in advance....

In addition, do a thorough Virus Scan to eliminate any hidden little parasitic digital germs...

How about delete all the history, temporary internet file including offline content and cookies?

Hi Guy's,

Well, after a virus scan, deleting the temporary internet files and cookies, still the same thing happened. So at 8am U.K. BST time, this morning for the 3rd recovery in succession, in 2 weeks of owning the machine, I did a complete recovery with the CD's I created.

I told it this time to recover both partitions, not just the C: partition, and as of yet, things are working smoothly, touch wood!

I have noticed a quite a few people have had this problem on other forums, but they had done the same with the temporary internet files and then virus scan, and their PC's also showed the same problem, so a format cleared it up for them.

I run NIS 2005 on a 4mb Broadband Connection, which is all wireless, and the router at the other end has a NAT firewall built into it, and I've never had any infections of any sort breaking through the barriers yet, but then there's alway's the first time!!

Many thanks for all the comments, and I will let you all know if this problem shows it's ugly head again....

Ive had that, and it sorted out when i scan my pc with spyware software. it found 471 spywares (never trust norton with spyware it only finds 2 a day) so stay with spyware protection!
