Internet Explorer freezes when clicking on a link...

Hi Everyone,

I didn't know where to put this Thread, so I thought I'd give it a try here.

The problem I am having is with Internet Explorer freezing when I try to access a link to either a website, or to a wallpaper on the Sony website.

Has anyone else had this problem, if so how is it fixed? or shall I just use my System Recovery discs and just re-insall everything?

Cheers in advance....

Well, everything is still working!
All this talk about Firefox and other browsers is really a little bizzare!
Just like Netscape, most of these browsers cannot view frames on a website, or moving grafix, I know this as I also run Linux on another PC, and the websites I create, don't display correctly on the browser that comes with Mandrake.

So I've had to do a little jiggery pokery, just to get it the sites to work. Why oh why can't they all show the same as the IE series of browsers?

I think I'll go back to my VB.NET, and write my own browser make it look better than IE 6

That is the fault of the site designers. All browsers can display websites perfectly well, provided they are properly written. Internet Explorer interprets things extremely poorly in that it does not properly adhere to the standards it should do. Nor is it likely that it will start to. Sony-Style UK is an example of this. It does not work properly in anything but Internet Explorer. Very poor practice, especially for the shop front of a multi-billion international organisation.
If you browser can't see moving images, or display some sites properly it sounds more like there's something actually wrong with the browser itself, or it's not configured properly. Again, allow me to emphasise that while IE may be a fine browser to use, from a technical standpoint and a website design standpoint, it is amateurish.

Firefoxes RAM management is actually not all that good, I'd like to see them fix it. If you use a lot of windows in IE simultaneously then you will enjoy the fact that opening tabs in FF makes minimal difference to RAM usage. However, it's a deliberate design feature that FF does not release RAM it is using until the entire browser is closed, not individual tabs, so after a while you might see RAM usage go quite high. This is also true if you use a lot of extensions like I do.

It's me again!!

Yup, VB.NET, I love it coz it does what it says on the tin, but then I also love Visual C++, oh now there's a language!

The only reason for running Visual Basic dot net is that I studied it at college, and I like the language protocol, it's nice and simple, just like me lol!!

But seriously, VB.NET rocks!!

Each to their own I guess.
Hate the way Microsoft take someone elses language and change it to suit them.

I see your point, I used to love Basic from the days of the Sinclair ZX-81 and onwards.

Oh well, those were the good ole days!!!!
