jumping cursor

My cursor keeps jumping when I am writing to another place in the text. I have the 'tap off when typing' which  seems to be the usual advice to correct this problem. Any ideas? It's really annoying.

It's a Viao VPCEB4E4E just over a year old, with windows 7. Just started doing this.

Hi frankster2000,

As you say that this has happened only recently try a Windows restore back to a date that it was working as expected. Otherwise try deleting and then reinstalling the original touchpad driver.
