I've been happily using my Vaio laptop PCG-7N1M for years now with no problems, but the other day I noticed a pink tinge to the white areas on the screen. The pink tinge comes and goes, but now the whole screen has also started flickering. That's also intermittant.
I'm quickly posting this question in the hope of being able to fix it before anything more drastic happens...
Hi starfishpurple,
If possible try attaching an external monitor to eliminate a problem with the LCD backlight or cabling.
BTW you are quoting the chassis model from a sticker on the underside of the notebook, have a look on the screen surround for the product model number. You may find that it is a VGN-FE series.

Hi Rich,
Yes, you're right, it's a VGN-FE21S :smileyblush:
Thanks for the suggestion, I'll give it a go and let you know how it goes.

Your problem actually sounds like either a bad video cable connector (either on the system board or on the back of the LCD panel) or a bad video cable (broken wire(s)) between the LCD panel and the system board through the hinge area. That would more easily explain the bluish tint and the flickering where bad connections or wires are usually more the cause for the problem you described.
