Maybe we can group a list of suggestions we think could be an improvement for future firmwares or accessories. Someone could be reading on the other side?
My list would be:
- Add a USB cable with the Vaio pocket (avoiding to carry the base with you) This also helps to the Hard Disk functionality.
- More edition options (edit titles, change order of songs in a group, track number order, etc...)
- Mosaic photo search similar to the by album cover searching)
- Delete a song from the Vaio pocket.
- Case that can be placed in the trousers belt, for example.
- Read Avi / mpg (I dunno if this is possible in any way)
- A FM radio... could be external, in the headphones, like some MP3 players have.
- There is no way i can display the lirycs. Does someone can?
- Titles or names for the Photo Folders.
- Possibility to add the album cover to an existing album in the Vaio pocket (not always from the Sonic Stage).
- We have a clock. Why not an alarm? Let's wake up with a Vaio spirit (jesssus....)
- Skin Editor.
D'you have any others?
the last thing i can say to you bentate is to put the cradle somewhere that it presses on a wall, like the edge of your desk or something.i do that,it helps although mine hasnt fallen any time...
diablovaio is right though!the cradle is not the most important problem of it all as the player has a faulty photo viewer system and plays no mp3s!!!
so consider that too.:smileywink:
thanks for trying to help, but the reason it's fallen over has been becuase i've got a cable trapped or something and it's jerked the cradle, and it's just not very stable. i have a separates hifi system, my laptop on top of or beside my hifi and my VP connected to one or both, so i end up with a great deal of cables all over the place. i don't think it's the biggest problem with it, personally i think the biggest problem with it is the inability to add playlists in a sensible way to the VP. "the player has a faulty photo viewer system" - no offence, but to me it's a player, not a picture viewer! i don't really care about the picture viewing facility. and once the tracks are on the VP, i don't really care what format they're in.
again, no offence, just my needs and desires are different.
Don't know if anyone else suffers from the same problem but sometimes when im listening to a song and decide to navigate to antoher song and select it, it doesnt play and i have to press the play button at the side. Another bug is that sometimes when i slide the switch to put it on hold the screen doesnt go blank like its supposed to but goes bright white which cant be good for battery life. It seldom happens though. Hope my VP isnt faulty, does any1 else have the same problem? At the end of the day they're bugs so i'd EXPECT sony to put them right.
bentate you are right, we can't say which one of VP's problems is more important as there's a lot of people with a lot of different point of views!
As for me, the photo viewer is disturbing, cause trying to find a particular photo is TIME CONSUMING, hard and annoying!
Creating playlists is terrible, I can't go in my music collection on VP and add each song individually to my playlist! it's really stupid!
And I really like to be able to transfer back my music to a computer. It's annoying when you transfer music to VP and it has to be prisoned there forever!
Cradle is fine for me, however, I really like to see at least a mini-cradle (Like iAudio M3 series) that is more portable and useful tome.
I bought my AP1L (40GB) from Ebuyer for £220 , and the day after my purchase I checked out the site again and realised that they increased the price to £230 !![]()
And tankgirltaz, the cradle is perfect, it's portable, and if you what to do with the metal stand it stands perfectly upright. You have to push it in when the metal part is in the right position, then it'll lock there and stays upright happily ever after!
About the software, I agree completely
"decide to navigate to antoher song and select it, it doesnt play and i have to press the play button at the side"
That happens alot with mine but not the other problem.
And about this cradle thing, if people looked at what i bitched about i actually said "Other than that and the fact that the software is buggy as hell I am more than chuffed with my VP"
So again I will say FIX THE FECKIN SOFTWARE SONY!!!!!
Before we attach more things to go wrong!!!!!!!!!!!:smileydevil:
you are right in what you say bentate...
but when sony provides a photo-viewing player youd expect it to be at least easy to view.
the file-naming system is like hell cause if you have 30 folders you'll never know which ones which!!!
i understand that you and other people might not use it as a photo viewer but some of us do and we should have something user-friendly!
sure, yeah i agree it should be much better, and if it was i'd probably use it much more (i once spent half an hour trying to find a photo to show someone and couldn't find it at all, though it was on the player). i'd really like to know if those responsible for updates at sony realise just how poor the software is, i'm trying to think where they might be getting feedback from (there is some scope for feedback on the registration form, but when i filled that out i didn't know about all the problems!)
Yep that's funny, before getting used to VP, on registration they ask for feedback and suggestions! How weak.
quite a good idea really. i ignored most of the niggling problems when i got it, or put them down to not knowing how to use it properly, so the feedback was really positive. it also means that they can show lots of positive feedback when asked for evidence to support their product. but, at the end of the day, for the things i value in an mp3 player, it's the best i've ever used.
