I have a sony pcg-k155z laptop.Have a matshita uj820d in it as a burner.I couldn't get the burner to burn DVD at 4X.Most ly at 2.4
I'm using nero 6.6.0.1.Any update in firmware available?
The only firmware update available for that laptop is NOT for that particular burner. Aparantly the laptop can come with 2 different burners and there is only a firmware update for one.
They don't make it very clear I wish they would.
This seems to be a very common issue, I would contact VAIO Link and explain the issue, hopefully they'll write some firmware.
Thanks for the quick reply.much appreciated. Thanks Kee-Lo,we sony users would appreciate if someone post an upgrade for the matshita uj820d model. All you can find is upgrade for pioneer.
Grrrrrrrrrr @ me not reading the question properly yet again.
2.4x is the fastest that drive burns at, 4x is not possible.
I did burn at 4X using Verbatim 4X certified DVD-R (white printable surface).Problem is I can't find the same support.I bought some tdk and verbatim 8X but the resulting speed is 2.4.I thought upgrading the firmware would do the trick:smileydevil:
That would explain it.
BTW I don't work for Sony.
Firmware updates are rarely actual upgrades to the drive, usually just minor fixes. You're unlikely to be able to burn faster than the specified speed for the drive unless you give it a go and it happens to work. So I guess the sensible thing to do would be carry on using Verbatim
Is it possible to use a firmware update for UJ820D to enable DOUBLE LAYER BURNING? as SONY released only one update but not for this drive 😞
