It would only be possible if the laptop is presented for repair or support at some time in the future.

If you get a copy of the police report, you can then ask Vaio Support to register the theft on their database and it will be recognised if it comes to their attention.

There are other ways to track your laptop - I bet the government could do it if they wanted - but those solutions commercially available must be installed before you lose it!
