My Vaio getting marked because of the screen being closed

Is it normal for the laptops to get marked because of the screen being closed? Mine has marks at either side of the mouse pad and same on the top, either side of the motion eye. Is this normal?

The images are not very clear but as there are a number of buffers on the screen surround that prevent direct surround to surround contact I find it difficult to understand how closing the screen could have caused the problem.

Is the paint failure possibly in a position that you rest your hands whilst typing?

I don't rest my hands on the laptop. The same marks are even on the top of the screen in the same places as those on the bottom
