My webcam's stopped working!

The webcam on my VPCEB2M0E has stopped working. I haven't used it for a while, but there were no problems when I last used it. The camera isn't even showing up on the devices section of the laptop's control panel.

Any ideas on how to fix this?

Hi JSO_25,

Is there anything listed for the camera in Device Manager > Imaging Devices, if so is the device reported as working?

You could try resetting all USB devices which should eliminate a USB glitch – it has been known to work in the past but if there is a hardware problem it will make no difference.

Try resetting all USB devices.

To do this open Device Manager and expand Universal Serial Bus controllers. Delete all in the tree and then shut down. Disconnect the power supply, remove the battery and then hold down the power button for 30 seconds.

Re-attach the power adaptor, reconnect the battery and re-boot - Windows will reload all USB drivers.

Hi Rich,

No, imaging devices isn't even listed in device manager.

I'll have a go with what you said earlier.

Thanks!
