Nasty start-up, shut down background - How do I change it?

I hate the nasty 'retro exploded cubes on blue' which appears at startup and shutdown on my latest sony, but can I heck as find the image file they've used on my hard drive in order to replace it with a clone-size image of something much nicer. Does anyone know the file name - or where it's stored, please ?
