I ended up putting Win 2K on the laptop, but it has about 4 unknow devices still.
I have the drivers from the recovery disk (yes I burnt the disks before formatting the drive), but I can't figure out which ones I go where.
Mmmh, that's not enough information.
here are the devices which made maybe problems.
the Soundcard (look under Audio, Video and Game Controller)
the Graphicscard + the TFT display
the MemoryStick slot
iLink(IEEE1334) > I think the Bus controller and the network adapter
the Network and maybe the Modem card
the WLAN card
the Touchpad (I think Windows2K thinks it's a PS2 mouse)
Is the graphics card driver not installed, then the TFT isn't installed too. Windows installs standart drivers for both. (I think thats not the problem)
I think your problem is maybe the MemoryStick slot, the connection for the docking station and the WLAN card but I'm not sure. For the other device Windows would installs standart drivers. You must check all your devices. Maybe a other FS user could help here better.
If I recall correctly Everest Home Edition can print off the list of all your hardware so you can do a checklist

I ended up dopwnloading the drivers-zip from the Sony site.
Unlike the drivers on the recovery disks, they had .exe files so it was able to automaticlly find and install the hardware.
It works for Windows 2K and XP in case someone wants to get rid of the XP Home.
