Noisy PSU on a VGN-NS20E

Hi! I have a Sony Vaio VGN-NS20E... silver
Has anyone experienced noise on the head-phone out jack when connecting to a amplifier/speaker set-up to listen to music/games etc.?
It only seems to be there when the PSU is connected... and it goes away when it runs on the battery alone. It is a bit annoying to say the least as I work in music production.
Is there a more stable PSU availiable that anyone can reccomend, did Sony replace them for anyone?
If anyone out-there can help I'd be extremely grateful
all the best
ed

Hi Ed and welcome to Club vaio.

The noise on the head-phone out jack suggests either a problem with ‘Ground Loop’ or ‘DC offset’.

Both are solvable and I suggest that you have a look at this THREAD from another forum – especially the post by eriko – which will explain the difference between the two, how to identify, and also the various solutions open to you.
