notebook performance

Hi!
I have had my PCG-FX405 for maybe 2 years now and things are getting slow. Am doing regular disc defrag etc, but certain things don't work as well as they should. Particularly video editing is impossible and after hibernation or standby things tend to freeze up. Any ideas out there? Do I need to get more than my 256Mb RAM? Or is it the hard drive capacity (or lack of)?

thanks, suabsout

It might be time to restore using your recovery CDs.
If your notebook can take 512MB then do consider it.

But won't I lose loads of stuff that I can't back up in doing that? Do you think more RAM would solve the problem?

Of course you will have to restore everything, but sometimes it's necessary.

Windows gets clogged up.

RAM always is a good addition to a machine.
