I have an old Z1 series vaio laptop (z1rsp). It's hard drive died some time ago, because it was dropped. So I have decided to replace it and reinstall the system.
I have some problems with that. I have bought Western Digital Blue Scorpio 320GB IDE 5400RPM 2.5" HDD,
and the laptop doesn't recognize it. In the BIOS it says Primary IDE : NONE.
It can see the old hdd without any problems, but because of the damage I can't use it. The old one was 40GB.
I also tried 30GB IBM HDD, it doesn't see that one as well.
My question is: Is there any limit to the size of HDD I can put in and also do I have to buy some exact models?
I have heard the rumor that sony accepts only some makes/models of hardware, so I need to buy the right one.
Please help.
