Please can anyone help the DVR in my VGC V2M has died and I have tried all the suggested remedies to no avail, so it has to be replaced, but where do you get one ? Vaio support will replace for approx £250 glup, any info on what has replaced this unit or will other units work, I have seen various drives available for around £30-40 and they look the same sort of slimline ones in laptops, why is this so difficult to solve or find the right information, what about using an external disc drive as a last resort ? frustrated Coope.

The cheap drives you mention will work perfectly well - just make sure you get an equivalent drive (slimline with the corner missing back-right).
