Please help, vaio won't shut down when power cord is plugged in

Hi, my vaio is only one week old, and already seems to have a fault. I can't shut it down while the power cord is plugged in, it just restarts, has any one ever come across this before, if so can it be fixed without having to send laptop away.

Hi - sorry to take so long getting back to you.

Your problem is a common one and is usually caused by a program or process not shutting down successfully.

There are many things you can try - have a look at this Microsofr Knowledgebase Page

You may also get some ideas from this Very Long Thread on another Forum

It is usually a trial and error exercise to find the culprit - Just try these three things first and let us know how you get on -

1. Close down Norton Internet Security manually and then try to shut down.

2. Close Media Centre manually before trying to shut down.

3. Run a full Anti-Virus and a full Anti-Spyware scan - just to be sure.
