I have a brand new VAIO SVE1712Z1EB notebook, running Win8. Cannot use the onboard camera (1.3 Mpx) for Skype - it is such poor quality, just a green screen with stripes. Tried the Win8 camera app, snowy, washed-out picture. Contacted vendor, no help. There is nothing to set that improves the quality either. Looking at many forums, it seems all VAIOs have the same problem. I cannot believe Sony is shipping expensive hardware with this kind of bad quality, and no fixes anywhere!?
£5 supermarket webcam has better image quality and low light performance than this. My work ASUS laptop cost £300 less than this machine and has stunning quality webcam.
Can anyone help?
Mike
Yes, I have the same laptop model. The laptop is generally excellent in every way, however, the inbuilt camera quality is unbelievably poor for Sony. I use a Logitech HD camera; the picture quality is in a different league. Since I only bought this laptop a few months ago I am hoping some camera fix will come from Sony.
