I leave ib Italy. I have a XL301 connected to a Sony LCD TV 32D3000. With the XL301 I can see everything in 16:9 format (DVD, the PC screen and so on).
But when I watch TV with the XL301 the TV screen is in 4:3 format.
I have alreay made all check of settings on the mediacenter and everything is ok. I called Sony Vaio link help desk, we made the check but without resolution.
Can somebody help me?
Thaks in advance
Have you tried pressing the info button on your remote (marked as i) (whilst watching TV), then select zoom & I would suggest using the wide screen mode that shows the top & bottom as concave as this seems to give the best results for me (XL302 & KDL-40D3000). Hope it works for you
Chris,
thank you for you support.
Are you referring to the i button on the remote of the Vaio or the TV?
Because if I press the i button on the remote I'm not sure I have understood what you are saying.
Please can you tell me again?
However I understand you have the same problem
Thanks

Yes, I do mean the "i" button on the Vaio remote. If you press this button you will get a menu appear & if you scroll down to the ZOOM option & click on this you can scroll through the different settings. There are two wide screen settings, I use the one that shows the top & bottom of the picture being concave (dished inwards), using this option stops the TV picture becoming distorted.
Chris,
thank you
I tested it and it work.
May be you can help on anohter issue.
when I watch some TV on the web (access to web thorugh Explorer and using ADSL connection ), as pay per view or something like that, when I chose the option to have the zoom on the full screen again it happens that i see the 4:3 format.
I tried with the keybord to check the zoom option but there isn't multiple option like with the remote on Mediacenter.
I tried to use the remote too but it looks it does not work when watching on web and so it looks the only option is to use the keyboard.
Do you have any idea on how to see wide the video on the web?
Thanks

Glad it worked for you. The only thing I can think of for your 4:3 screen on the Web is your resolution setting on the PC when running in Windows & not Media Centre. Are you running in 720p mode? if so use the Resolution Setting Utility to change to 1080i when viewing on the Web & see if this works
Good luck
