Problem with Firmware Update for Matshita UJ-842S

Hi all,

I've just downloaded the firmware upgrade for my Matshita UJ-842S included in the VGN-SZ3XWP. Tried multiple times to install it, but the upgrade tool refuses to update my firmware. How comes? I double-checked that I have downloaded the correct version from vaio-link. Has anyone had the same problem and could give me a clue?

Thank you so much for your response. Actually, I think you are right and version 1.40 was already installed when I had bought the notebook. Sorry for bothering.
I was just seeing that the upgrade would make the writer support a wider range of media - and as I have about 100 CDs which I can't use with it, I had hoped...
I have seen in the forum that certain manufacturers have been recommended for the other drives. I could burn Verbatim Discs with mine. Are there any other brands you know of for my writer?

Hi schotti,

They really should work with most brands but unfortunately that doesn't seen to be the case.

Most people seem to be OK with Sony, Verbatim or TDK discs.
