problem with SZ3XWP battery life when in standby / hibernation

Hi , wonder if anyone can help...
I have a Vaio SZ3WXP with XP Pro. When i place the laptop in standby mode or hibernate mode , such as overnight or during non use in the day, the battery life decreases really quickly... I have never had such a problem with my previous laptops and is becomming quite annoying. Other laptops can run for several days in standby without draining the battery.

Any help would be grateful.

hmmm this is not very normal.Specially in hibernation mode the pc does not decrease battery much.Maybe you have to contact vaio maybe your battery is damaged.

I have done some further tests , seems i was wrong..
Hibernation mode is ok (wrong settings in XP doh!).

BUT

Battery life is dramaticlly reduced when in stanby mode.
Is there a BIOS upgrade which maybe fixes this?
