Problems with burning DVDs

Hi guys, I've got a FR315S with a Sony DW-U50A DVD+-R/W drive. My problem is that I am able to burn data DVD-Rs just fine, only when I'm burning data DVD+RWs I get an error message. I tried using both, the supplied Drag n Drop and NERO and even tried updating the firmware but to no avail. Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Did you try using DVD-RW?

Normally your drive must burn DVD-R/RW and DVD+R/RW.

I tried using a different brand of DVD+RW - Philips in place of Maxell - and the work just fine! Trouble is, the Maxell RWs work just fine on another newer VAIO!

opie, I have the same labtop.

The current firmware is 1.5g
This is the same driver, as I bought my labtop for two years.

In things, like these is Sony.............
......ah, forget it
