Question

I've posted a few questions on here regarding problems including, my recovery partition has been deleted, and my laptop has trouble reading discs. Well my Vista upgrade arrived yesterday, and half an hour through installation an error message popped up and said it couldn't continue.

I decided to order recovery discs from sony costing a decent £28. My question is, will restarting the computer to factory settings solve the 3 issues afore mentioned?

Many thanks, Matt

The recovery disc won't recover your recovery partition and won't fix your trouble with reading discs.

Anyway, before you do the Vista Upgrade, do always a fully system recovery with your Recovery DVDs. And install the latest drivers.

It won't restore the recovery partition? But I thought it's supposed to take it back to factory settings???

So you recommend I use the recovery disks before installing Vista anyway, where do I get 'the latest drivers'?

Thanks, Matt.

It only takes the OS partition back to factory setting, not the entire PC.

Oh right I see, so how would I go about getting the recovery partition back? Surely there's a way?

You could purchase something like Acronis True Image 10 as this will allow you to create a hidden secure zone on your hard drive, to create and store a backup image.. See page 13 of the User guide for more details..
