I have a Vaio VGN-AR31S and am now getting a message from the Intel Matrix Storage Manager that "a drive in raid 0 is failing" how do i solve this problem.
Hi bps1,
We have had this problem in the past with your model. From memory I think 75% were false alarms but 25% needed a new drive.
Firstly I recommend you back up all your data just in case. Better still get yourself a copy of Acronis True Image and make a mirror of your drives on an external hard drive - this would let you reinstate your system, including software, data and settings on a new drive.
Next, download and install the latest version of the Matrix Manager and the RAID/SATA driver from the Intel website - the version you have may be old and corrupt.
Open the Matrix Storage Manager and right-click on the faulty drive and select something like 'drive is normal' to stop the warning message. If the new driver has fixed the problem that will be it but if the error message reappears you may need to get your drives tested.
