ya know when i bought my vaio a317s its written in the techincal spec that it had 512mb ram.. and can be upgrade to 1024mb.. but the thing is THEY NEVER SAID ITS 2X256mb!!! which didnt left any space for me to upgrade it unless i take out the original ram, meanings i had to buy 2x512mb ram instated of 1. and what am i going to do with the original 2x256mb ram then?..:smileyconfused::smileydevil:
right i had check it out with partition magic.. seem like the recovery partition is 7.1G and 4G had been used for the recovery, meaning 3G is sitting there unused, c: 28.6G and 😧 59.6G.. and total is 95.3G not 100G
but if i check it from my computer, C: 27.9G and D:58.2G.. so there is some missing space there?
Looks like it
Going back to the RAM thing.... I have an S1XP with 512 factory installed (thankfully on one module, not 2), and want to buy an additional 512 module.
I've searched Crucial Memory, but the only S series model they have listed is the VGN-S38GP/B. I'm not 100% sure but I think that is the US model number for the same machine right? if so will the upgrade module work on my S1XP? Link to module I'm on about.
Also you will see that this costs £77. I searched for a 512 module on Kingston and found this which is nearly double the price!
I don't claim to be an expert on memory modules, so I would appreciate some advice on which one I should get?
Thanks!
uh lucky you ... well we wait for kee-loo or seb the club vaio forummers dedicated techincian
Just another question, it said the max ram on my laptop is 1G. meaning i need to put in 2x512mb ram.. rite what if i put 2x1G ram? to make it 2G ram izzit possible?:smileyconfused:
No idea
but you can just have 1x1GB
But i had 2 ram slot.. cant i do 2x1G?
No idea if your mobo would support it.
I recently actually bought 512MB RAM from Sony ...:smileysad: which was a mistake since it is really overpriced (even with the promotional offer thing). Of course later I found a much cheaper option at Crucial ... I could slap myself for that. But hey, whats done is done. Should I ever upgrade to 2gb of ram (don't know I'd ever need to though) I would look around more.
ouch!... you should check out more option before ordering from sony..
