RS-502 DVD-ROM Drive doesn't recognize any type of CD

hi all,

i have purchased my vaio about 10 monts ago, and suddenly about a week ago the dvd-rom drive doesn't recognized any type of cd i putted in. When i put the same cd in the dvd-rw drive it works fine.

Does this mean i dvd-rom is broken?
I can see the dvd-rom drive letter in windows explorer though.

Many thanx in advance.

Cheers,
inoel

Hi, Try a CD lens cleaner first, if that doesnt work call sony to get it replaced, I have a similar issue the disc isnt recognised but if you double click on the drive in my computer it works, I have to select the drive manually still, as the warranty has run out!!:smileysad:

Hope this helps

Added the software patches from Sony's site and BANG - all went haywire ...
