I run a second montior but am having trouble with the resolution. It is an LCD monitor with a resolution of 1920x1080, but the Vaio will only allow a max setting of 1680x1050, which means I am left with a fuzzy output.
Does anyone know how I can change this? Gone through everything I can find and drawn a blank.
Thanks.

Solved! Go to Solution.
How are you connecting the external monitor?
I don't think the JS-Series supports external monitors as it has no VGA or HDMI out. Are you using some sort of USB connection?
If the Vaio cannot recognise the external monitor, it will use the Vaio's built-in screen resolution of 1680 X 1050.
What make is the converter?
I think the StarTech USB2VGAE2 has a maximum of 1680 X 1050. However, you can buy converters with a higher resolution and with VGA, DVI or HDMI connections.

Have you tried lowering the resolution on your LCD?
Or Maybe try to find a driver update with your graphics card on your notebook to perhaps support higher resolution.

Hi, I have a connection to the monitor via a USB converter so I'm guessing the res I have at the moment is the maximum it will allow.
Thanks for your help.

Great, thanks for that.
