Screen Problem - Can anyone help?

Hi,

This week I clean installed Windows XP with my own copy, on Vaio VGN-FS195VP. I installed all the drivers in the order as advised in one of the posts here from the CD I created from vaio website for my model and installed XP SP2 after that.

Since the XP installation, the display on screen has shrunk, roughly 2 cm each from left and right, 0.5 cm each from top and bottom.  I have tried changing the display size but to no avail.  When I checked the device manager, I see two yellow question marks under other devices for:

1.  Mass Storage Controller and

2.  Video Controller (VGA compatible).

Can anhyone help me with this?

Thanks a lot in advance.

If there is no Setup.exe you must install the driver from within Device Manager by using the 'Have Disc' method and pointing the installer at the directory containing the .INF file.

  1. Find the uninstalled device in Device Manager and double-click on it.
  2. Go to Driver Tab and select Update Driver.
  3. Select Browse my computer for driver software.
  4. Select Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer.
  5. Select Have Disk....
  6. Select Browse....
  7. Browse to the folder with the downloaded driver .INF file in it.
  8. Next ..........
  9. If you get a warning screen, select "Install Anyway".
  10. Close & Re-Boot

It would appear that you have not installed all the necessary drivers.

You have not installed: -

1.  MemoryStick Driver

2.  nVidia GeForce Go 6200 Graphics Driver

Both are available to download from the Support website for your model here: -

Many thanks Blencogo for the suggestions.

As advised,  I have now overcome the screen display problem.

But I still have the yellow question mark in device manager despite trying again installing the memory stick driver.

I downloaded the Memory Stick Driver (FS1_MemoryStick.zip) from vaio site for my model and extracted the ZIP file to C:\driver.  They are:

1. tifmsony - security catalog file,

2. tifmsony - system file,

3. tifmsony - setup infomration file.

I also tried going to add/remove hardware and tried installing that way but could not as I don't know what type of hardware Memory Stick is and with what hardware should I associate it?

Any advice/suggestion are more than welcome.

"But I still have the yellow question mark in device manager despite trying again installing the memory stick driver."

May I ask what device this is? At first glance, I would think that this is an external device plugged in to a USB port. https://imagicon.info/cat/12-13/1.gif

More garbage from gugabackhand.

If you can't help, please don't confuse everyone.
