Hi,
I've spent most of the day trying to sort this out and would really appreciate some help!
I've been a Mac user all my life and thought I'd buy a second hand PC laptop to see what it's like and am having a complete nightmare!
I've just completed a fresh install of Windows Vista home premium and all of the function buttons on the laptop have completely stopped working.
I imagine this is a very basic thing for you guys but I'm feeling very much out of my depth!
The laptop is a Sony Vaio VGN-AR51E
No disks came with the lappy but I have the genuine Vista home premium dvd that came from my girlfriends broken laptop and the product key that I've used to install it is on the COA on the bottom of the laptop that I'm having the problem with. Windows Vista has installed perfectly and now I just want to get the function key elements working... AV Mode, forward, rewind etc and all the volume and eject functions.
Please help... I'm a complete novice!!!!
Thanks in advance!
Hi,
You'll need to reinstall all the drivers and utilities for your VAIO model, you should be able to download them here:
http://www.sony.co.uk/support/en/product/VGN-AR51E/updates
For future reference, you should always try to reinstall from a recover disk or recovery partion. If this isn't possible download all the laptop drivers first, from the manufacturers website, and then burn them onto a CD before reinstalling the OS. This applies to ANY laptop, as they all come with custom drivers.
Hope this helps.
Dean
