Seeking new R600 notebook circa 2001

Hi,

Looking to replace a smashed R600-HEK with an R600 of equal or better spec (yes, it must be an R600).

Anybody know where I can get one? Ideally new.

Thanks,

Jason.

I would suspect taht your chances of replacing it with a new one are zilch. Heavy discounting of models that have been superceded guarantees this. It would take a very strange retailer to hold onto computer stock for four years!

In my opinion your only hope is Ebay and if you are extremely lucky you could get one that has had little use and has been looked after. A bit of a lottery.

I wish you well in your search.

In fact there is ONE on Ebay now with a BIN of £600!

It does however have a couple of "flaws".

Phew £600 is a bit steep. You could get a better new laptop for not much more than that.

I wouldn't bother, looks like it's developed fungus!
He really shouldn't get > £400 for that

Thanks for the info.

I see from the Sony site that there were 13 (!) models of the R600. Does anybone know of an at-a-glance comparison chart, so I can see how they all spec out?

Cheers,

Jason.

Not so much an at glance comparison, but all VAIO specs are on VAIO Link: http://www.vaio-link.com/common/umbrella.asp?S=5005

Hope that helps.

Are you sure there were 13 of them?

Hey I don't know if any one noticed, but although the Ebay item is listed as "Buy it now" for £600, the seller has added a note that this is a mistake and he/she is open to offers.
