Shift Keys have split their functionality

Left shift key when depressed will only activate "$^*) -that is the even nos at the top of my GR214 laptop, whilst the right shift key will only activate the odd numbers ! £ % &(keys

How do I get both shift keys to operate all on the top range of numbers

I must admit that I have never heard of this problem before!
In order to eliminate a software or malicious code problem try testing the shift keys at a clean boot to the DOS prompt. If this has the same result then I would suspect a hardware defect.
