Sonic Stage 3.0 Problems

It says I have to initializate my VP.
I go to initializations menu, I do it but it doesn't work.
What can I do?

there are many initializations in the menu.are you sure you are selecting the right one...i think you're supposed to format the whole drive not history stuff etc.
i havent got the 3.0 version yet and it doesnt sound good that you have to format your vp[that's why i havent upgraded yet]so i could be wrong...

maybe if you try and delete the tracks manually or through the sstage, and then try again?

Yes, I thought the same as you.
There is an Initialization in the menu, but it doesn't seem to work.
Then, there is an initialization in the Control menu in SS 3.0.
But this seems to format the VP... and I have like 13gb and almost 5.000 songs transfered... no way I'm gonna format it.
Now I'm trying to go back to 2.1 or 2.3 but no success...
Damn Sony...

is there a big difference between "initializing" and "formating"?
i thought it's the same thing...

from what i saw from another user,he upgraded into v3.0 and all his files were lost completely, music and all.

i suppose you cant prevent this from happening if you want to upgrade you sstage...

but still im not sure as i havent done it myself

that's very lame. I'm not going to reupload all my songs on every update. And, I cant backup all the music on my hd (not enough freespace), and reconverting all the cd take to much time. I wont do it. So if so at sony reads this, make something for that silly upgrade process !

I have downloadded SS3.0, man do I regret it, my pocket isn't regognized anymore, I put SS2.3 again on my pc and deleted 3.0, the problem occures.

**** SONY! Now I have to format my Pocket with almost 7000 songs on it plus albumcovers.

Thinking of purchasing a Ipod 60Gb Photo, although I am very pleased with the sound of the Vaio Pocket, but DAMN Sony, you are gonna loose costumers by this behaviour!

Snalko, you are totally right. It happened the same to me.
A shame!

By the way, not Norton, McAfee.

I lost 2,500+ songs the other day to take advantage of v3.0, not sure if it is worth it !!!

I lost all my data when it said everything but MUSIC would be lost, was extremely p!ssed and have to yet again rip all my CD's which takes a good while to do...

I agree the device is a wonderful piece of equipment but the software is a major let down and ruins what could have been easily an IPod Killer !!!

You are right, Samartin.
in fact, in SS 3.0 I wanted to check the Playlist thing.
What's that?
It seems to be a simple group. I thought it would be something similar to *.m3u but no.
Also there is a Compilation option and a preview of the art inside the VP (but still you have to add it before, in SS).

so the 3.0 has problems in its use...
is it really that bad for you?
have you installed the firmware updates and all?
maybe thats why the device is not recognized...
