Hi all
I just recieved my L Series all in one PC. Awsome bit of kit, however i have a need to run a few apps in XP mode. This is usually quite easy to achieve by installing Virtual PC, however it requires Hardware Virtualisation enabled in the bios - which is disabled by default. Sadly it seems all the Vaio range have a limited menu so you cant enable it. A little googling on the subject, it seems some clever people have found away around it .. by exporting the bios to a text file, changing a setting the re-importing the text file. Unfortunately this isnt possible on the L series for two reasons a) it uses a later version bios and noone seems to know which setting to change b) the import/export tool doesnt work on it.
This leaves me a little stuck... does anyone have away around it or an alternative method of running apps in xp mode?
regards
looski
Hi looski,
Exactly which Vaio model do you own?
There is a VT BIOS update R0201T5 for the VPC-L11 series Vaios which adds VT to the BIOS options. However, it can only work if your processor is VT compatible - check here:
