Sony Support -Do They Ever Keep Promises ????

[size=18]

i am about to write a complaint to sony as i have been waiting three weeks on my notebook being picked up. After 6 phone calls at an average of 10 to 15 minutes at 9p per minute I am no further forward than I was 3 Weeks ago.

During the last call I apparently cannot be put on hold for a supervisor, they cannot give me an address to complain to and they cannot give me an email address for the supervisor.

What is the point in having a warranty if nothing ever happens???I would suggest that anyone thinking of buying a VAIO consider the fact that if there is a hardware problem within a year you will have major hassle gatting them to pick it up.The problem with my VAIO is quite simple. the CD/DVD combo drive does not function. it is not recognised by the Vaio. As far as it is concerned it does not exist. For a while the laptop would not boot up with the drive in place. I had to remove it to get it to work. Everything else works as normal.I have now had 2 scheduled uplift dates and no-one has turned up. Also I am told when they do pick it up it will be away for a minimum of 4 weeks.IS THIS SUPPORT???

Any thoughts?

[size=18]WOW that's a long time, normally it's 5/6 days.Usually they use DHL, it's send to France and then fixed.I would call your local trading standards if you are in the UK, this is unacceptable.

Pretty odd,

I had a problem with my notebook (Netherlands)...
(The CD/DVD COMBO drive failed to write CD/DVD which which were succesful in the past)
* They first asked me to reinstall from the original setup..
* Including the original frase (Have you looked on VAIO LINK for any updates???)
* Try it if it works...
* Then try other media for burning CD-R(W)/DVD-/+R(W)

Then they arranged that the notebook was picked up by DHL...
After 5 workdays DHL returned my notebook to me...

O still no complaints about the warranty here...

i can't load any cd's or use the boot disks as the drive will not run any cds at all.

If you cannot utilise the recovery disks then I would definately say there was a problem (obvious I know)

If Sony (or their carrier) have failed to meet their own deadlines for pickup then some recompense is in order I would have thought.

Sony support seems to be a bit "hit & miss" :slight_frown:

True Dave, some of us get a good deal from Sony, others not so quite.

I would ask for another pickup, if it can't read the RCDs then you can't do much to rectify the issue.
