Sony Vaio Motion Eye Webcam no longer working in Windows 7

Hi,

I have a Sony Vaio VGN-NS30E/W, on which I am running Windows 7. All of a sudden I am getting an error message that one of the USB devices is not recognised and this device appears to be the Sony Visual Communication Camera (Motion Eye) webcam, which has worked before on Windows 7.

It uses the following drivers:
ArcSoftKsUFilter.sys
usbvideo.sys

When trying to update the driver, it tells me that I have the latest driver (Version 6.1.7601.17586).

Device Status: Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)

I would appreciate if someone could help with this issue as Sony can't help (my laptop is 2 years old and therefore out of warranty).

Any help would be much appreciated.

If you Google, you will see this is a very common problem with USB devices and Windows 7.

Unfortunately, nobody seems to have a magic solution.

One thing is worth trying which occasionally works.

1. Uninstall the device or controller showing the Code 43 Error in Device Manager

2. Close down your Vaio completely

3. Remove the Battery

4. Unplug the power cable from the AC adapter

5. Leave the Vaio to dissipate static for 15 minutes

6. Hold down the Power button for 30 seconds

7. Connect AC Power and reboot

8. Try the camera and other USB devices and if OK, replace the battery.

It's a long shot but worth a try!
