Sony Vaio VGN-NR32L audio problem

I accidentally disabled my built in speakers on my laptop. However, I cannot turn them back on. I haven't deleted or removed them but when I search for playback devices I get the message 'no audio devices are installed'. Am I missing something really obvious, or do I have to download a driver? Any help whatsoever would be appreciated.

Can you remember how you disabled your sound.?

Are your sound drivers showing as installed in Device Manager.?

Have you checked that the speakers are enabled in Control Panel/Sound

Does the speaker icon in the system tray have a red symbol on it.?
