Speakers for my Vaio A417M

Hi

I want to get some decent sound from my Vaio A417M and am looking at the Altec Lansing 5100 6 piece speaker set but am not sure if they :

1 - are compatible with my Vaio
2 - can be plugged in directly to my Vaio
3 - have to be plugged into a docking station which I will need to get.

Any help or advice would be much appreciated.
