spec for replacement hard disk on vaio vgn-fs195xp-100gb
Please advise disk spec for the above sony vaio, also can i purchase a larger disk for this pc, add how do i transfer the recovery section to the new disk

Here are all of the notebook HDD I can find. I have the 200GB in my notebook and it is really good. As for copying all of the recovery data i am not sure its possible as it is done with a special program although you may be able to do a straight copy using another computer.
Here is the specification for the Vaio you mention but i don't know the disk that is in it. Do you have a model number for the disk?

Here is the full specification for your drive. I would suggest that look look at the 200GB hard drive although the upcoming 300GB looks very interesting as it contains new technology. I would definately stick with Fujitsu as they are possible the best for notebook hdd.

any idea where i can obtain one of the 200/300gb from. i have looked on ebuyer and they have several, is there any thing specail i should look for, eg, number of pins, oem, memory rpm etc.

Personally i would buy them from overclockers as they are very good. These disks are exactly the same as the one you already have bar the fact that they have a larger capacity. Would probably stick with the 200 or the 250Gb as they are more reasonably priced and more readily availaible.
