Hi hynde and welcome to ClubVAIO.
It could be a hard disc failure but hopefully you just have some corrupted boot files in the boot sector.
Do you have (or can you borrow) a Windows XP installation disk? (Not the Sony Recovery Disc).
1. Start your computer with the Windows startup disk.
2. When the 'Welcome to Setup' screen appears, press R to enter the Recovery Console.
3. Select the Windows installation that you want to access from the Recovery Console. (Usually C:\WINDOWS) and press ENTER.
4. Type the administrator password when you are prompted to do so. If you are using the original XP Home Edition, the Administrator password will be blank by default (unless you have set one up) - just press ENTER.
5. At the command prompt, on the drive where Windows is installed (C:\), type CHKDSK /R and then press ENTER.
6. At the command prompt, type EXIT, and then press ENTER to restart your computer.
If this procedure does not work, repeat it and use the FIXBOOT command in step 5 instead of the CHKDSK /R command.
Run a full Virus/Spyware Scan when you are back up and running !!!
Good Luck.
