can anyone tell me what hard drive i upgrade my sony Sz6 with the standard one is a 160gb how big can i go and what make and model
cheers
Hi newsboy and welcome.
The good news is that almost any 2.5 inch SATA drive will fit as long as it is only 9mm thick. Some 500GB drives are too thick at 12.5mm.
Any make is reliable these days and Seagate Momentus and Western Digital Scorpio Blue are poular at present but others are avalable - just remember to check the height!
Google for "2.5 inch SATA 500GB" and you will get many choices.
The bad news is that hard disc replacement in the SZ involves taking the Vaio completely to pieces (the keyboard and the palmrest need to be removed) - not for the faint hearted.
is it any uncompatible model with seagate momentus? like 7200rpm and interface ata-8 (seen the original hdd is ata-7)...
I think you will find your VAIO VGNSZ4MN/B has a SATA interface. All ATA drives are incompatible.
All the Momentus 7200.4 drives are SATA

SATA is always backward compatible - it is part of the standard.
